Hiring For Aquaponics System Development Manager
Our company is the world’s only commercial scale hydroponic system growing Salicornia (sea asparagus) and Gracilaria (ogo/limu) in full strength ocean water. We grow both these crops in soil-free multi trophic ponds irrigated with water pumped from the nearby coastline. Over 17 years of operation, we have built a base of customers among supermarkets, restaurants, and poke bars throughout Oahu and the other Hawaiian Islands including others in the mainland US and East Asia. You may recognize our brand label as Olakai.
Our most recent development has been the inclusion of white-leg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) to our cultivation system. We are currently in the experimental phase, which if successful, will be the world’s first system to grow shrimp, halophytes, and seaweed in recirculating salt water.
The key objective of the job posted will be to develop our system from an experimental scale to commercial scale. Results from our first experimental scale trial (2,100 gallons total water volume) will be applied to our larger scale system (20,000 gallons total water volume) which is under construction and will be complete within January.
